• 1992: Diploma (~Master) at University of Hamburg; Thesis: Sedimentology and facies of Upper Cretaceous Flysch deposits of Pobla de Segur (Spain, Southern Pyrenees)
• 1997: Dissertation at the University of Hamburg: Phylogeny of the Ptenoglossa (Gastropoda)
• 1998-1999: Postdoc at the Dept. of Paleobiology, Smithsonian Institution, Washington D.C.
• 1999-2001: DFG-stipend at the Institute for Paleontology, University of Erlangen
• 2001-2006: Assistant professor (teaching, research) at the Institute for Palaeontology, University of Erlangen
